Scientific Background
Adipotide (also known as FTPP – Fat-Targeted Proapoptotic Peptide) is a synthetic chimeric peptide designed to selectively target and destroy blood vessels that supply white adipose tissue (fat cells).
It consists of a cyclic peptide (CKGGRAKDC) that homes to prohibitin on fat vasculature, linked to a pro-apoptotic sequence (D(KLAKLAK)₂) that induces cell death in targeted endothelial cells, leading to fat tissue starvation and reduction.
Preclinical research in obese monkey and mouse models has shown significant weight loss (up to 11–39% body weight reduction) with preferential loss of visceral fat, improved insulin sensitivity, and no major impact on lean mass.
As an investigational compound, Adipotide is not approved for therapeutic use and is provided strictly for research purposes into targeted fat reduction, vascular biology, and metabolic regulation.
Intended Research Use
- Targeted fat reduction via adipose vasculature disruption
- Visceral fat loss research in obesity models
- Insulin sensitivity and metabolic regulation studies
- Vascular biology and prohibitin-targeting research
- Weight management support research
